On Tuesday 21 October 2025, Emily Scarratt announced her retirement from international rugby, closing an extraordinary chapter in English sport.
Across an exceptional career spanning 119 Test matches, she scored 754 points: 54 tries, 158 conversions and 56 penalties. It is more than any other player in an England shirt. A double World Cup winner and the first Red Rose to compete in five Rugby World Cups, she leaves behind a record few will ever match.
Known for her precision, composure and unshakeable leadership, Emily has been one of the defining figures of women’s rugby, combining athletic excellence with humility and heart.
To mark her legacy, artist and curator Agnieszka Lokaj created a new painting inspired by Scarratt as part of her ongoing exploration of female strength and resilience. The piece was featured within Touchlines of Fortitude, Lokaj’s acclaimed exhibition celebrating the courage, artistry, and emotional power of women’s rugby.

“Emily’s grace and quiet determination have inspired so many,” said Agnieszka Lokaj, curator of Touchlines of Fortitude. “Her legacy goes far beyond what she achieved on the field. She embodies the very resilience that Touchlines of Fortitude was created to honour: the courage to keep going, the beauty in strength and the quiet confidence that changes everything.”
As the Red Roses celebrate a new generation of champions, Emily’s influence endures not only in the record books but in the art, stories and hearts she has
inspired.
